Nuon supplies approximately 2.1 million consumers, businesses and organisations in the Netherlands with electricity and gas. With a net turnover of € 3.7 billion in 2013, it ranks among the top three Dutch energy companies.

Due to an upcoming overhaul, Nuon was faced with the challenge of organising access control for more than 2,000 people. Moreover, the site had to be divided into multiple zones and access could only be granted after passing specific exams. The focus had to be on compliance with the laws and regulations and on saving cost on access process management.

IQ-Pass implemented the access control by placing a control gate and installing GoWorkforce Professional software. The entire access control process was thus covered: from online login and providing access to being able to determine exactly who was on site, where and when.

The subcontractors pre-registered their employees online on the GoWorkforce pre-registration site. Visitors were only granted access to the site once all required data and documents had been completed, uploaded and approved. As a result, laws and regulations were complied with and the administrative workload shifted more towards the subcontractors and away from the client.

Thanks to the solution of GoWorkforce, Nuon was able to guarantee that the access was processed quickly and efficiently, and that only the right people were in the right location. In the event of a health & safety inspection, all the appropriate reports containing the required data were available in real time. The daily checks that were carried out in line with the requirements of the Working Hours Act revealed zero cases of working excessive hours. Compliance with legislation and regulations is now tightly regulated and Nuon also saves time and costs by managing the access process with GoWorkforce.
